Meet Dawn Sagrillo, Nurse Practitioner, Certified Aesthetic Nurse Specialist, Founder, and Clinical Director

Dawn Sagrillo's enduring dedication to the specialty of plastic surgical nursing has driven her passion for delivering safe and superior outcomes in nonsurgical aesthetics. She received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1987 and has spent more than 30 years in both plastic surgery and aesthetic medicine, focusing on research, education, and clinical practice. Dawn also earned a Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University and has been a certified adult-gerontology nurse practitioner (AGNP-BC) for a decade. She is nationally board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and an Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber (APNP) in the State of Wisconsin. Dawn also holds advanced practice nursing licenses in both Arizona and Florida.

After a decade-long tenure with the Medical College of Wisconsin, Department of Plastic Surgery, she partnered with a nationally recognized plastic surgeon and played an integral role in establishing a successful private aesthetic surgery practice. Dawn was the first Aesthetic Nurse Injector in Wisconsin! In 2011, she established ReFresh Aesthetic Center and serves as its Clinical Director, Nurse Practitioner, and Certified Aesthetic Nurse Specialist. She practices collaboratively with her team of medical professionals, including a facial plastic surgeon, doctorate of nursing practice, physician's assistant, nurses, and aestheticians to provide nonsurgical aesthetic services in a safe, caring, and comfortable environment.

As a Certified Plastic Surgical Nurse (CPSN) for the past 30 years and a Certified Aesthetic Nurse Specialist (CANS-R) since 2013, Dawn recognizes the value of specialty training. Her devotion to ongoing education led to her involvement for more than a decade as vice president and clinical instructor with Aesthetic Advancements, Institute (AAI), an internationally recognized leader in continuing medical education in aesthetics.

With Dawn’s passion to mentor other practitioners entering the field of aesthetic medicine, she serves as one of six faculty educators for nationally recognized TITAN Aesthetic Education and Training Company. Dawn is also a national educator and trainer for Allergan Aesthetics, Galderma Aesthetics & Revance Aesthetics. She is considered one of the pioneers in providing aesthetic injectable education, having trained thousands of practitioners throughout the United States.

Dawn has served on numerous committees and professional boards throughout her career. She has been actively involved in the International Society for Plastic and Aesthetic Nurses (ISPAN), the Plastic Surgical Nursing Certification Board (PSNCB), and the Plastic Surgical Nursing (PSN) Journal Editorial Board for over two decades. She was part of the founding committee that developed the Certified Aesthetic Nurse Specialist (CANS) national certification examination. Dawn is one of the founders of the Wisconsin Aesthetic Provider Coalition and of Aesthetic Masterminds. She is a published author, contributing to plastic and aesthetic nursing education for more than 20 years. Finally, Dawn is the creator of the US patented BRIVO Boards and syringe holders.

Practice Philosophy

Dawn Sagrillo’s synergy of aesthetic medical knowledge, more than 20 years of experience, and passion for her patients led her to growing ReFresh Aesthetic Center® and its team to what it is today. Dawn believes a gentle touch, attention to detail, and aesthetic eye are essential to providing beautiful and natural results. Our practice name is rooted in her philosophy of care: simply giving women and men a ReFreshed look and feel. Understanding the synergy of art and science in facial aesthetics has given Dawn a reputation that is known and respected locally and nationally by both her patients and peers.

Kevin Robertson

ReFresh Aesthetic Center is proud to have Dr. Robertson as its Medical Director. Our Clinical Director, Dawn Sagrillo, has known and respected Dr. Robertson and his team for two decades. They have collaborated on medical aesthetic education, training, and best business practices over these years. Both Dr. Robertson and Dawn serve as Allergan Medical Institute Faculty and Advisory Board Members, sharing similar philosophies in the care and treatment of their aesthetic patients. Kevin Robertson, MD, completed his undergraduate work at Duke University, his medical education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, his residency specializing in head and neck surgery at the University of Illinois, and his fellowship specializing in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at an Emory University-associated private practice in Atlanta, GA. Dr. Robertson was hired as an Assistant Professor of Surgery and the first Director of Facial Plastic Surgery at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He continued to serve the university full-time as a surgical instructor, researcher, and mentor until 2003, when the private practice of Robertson Plastic Surgery was created. Dr. Robertson is Double Board Certified in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and Head and Neck Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons as well as the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is also an associate of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Robertson opened his private practice clinic in 2003 to provide more personalized services and complete patient satisfaction with regards to privacy, safety, comfort, and natural appearing results. His private on-site operating suite allows for a safe, comfortable, and discrete surgical experience, all without a hospital stay. When it comes to facial aesthetic surgery, Dr. Robertson’s caring team of dedicated OR staff is there specifically for you so that you can rest assured that all aspects of your comfort and safety are taken into consideration on that big day.

Kasey Penshorn

BSN, RN

Kasey attended the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She spent the last 9 years working as a bedside RN in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit before following her passion of becoming an aesthetic nurse specialist.

Kasey’s time spent in critical care has created a strong clinical foundation for her position at ReFresh. She invested time into mastering facial anatomy and the why behind injecting prior to beginning her aesthetic career. Kasey’s passion is to educate every patient, understand their aesthetic goals, and make them feel and look their best by creating a natural, holistic treatment plan.

Kasey brings a caring demeanor, positive attitude and gentle touch to patient consultations and treatments. She is excited to continue to learn and grow with the ReFresh team, all while helping people find their outward confidence and beauty.

On a personal note, Kasey enjoys trying new restaurants, staying active by golfing and attending workout classes and loves a good Rom Com-shoutout Matthew McConaughey. She is getting married in October and would love to help create a treatment plan for other brides to be.

With her friendly and professional personality, Katie welcomes all patients with a warm smile as soon as they walk through the doors of ReFresh. She is always happy to assist, and will go out of her way to make patients feel happy and well cared for.

Katie is also manages all things Social Media. She creates fun, informative and engaging content for our Facebook and Instagram pages. With a passion for beauty, skin care and living a healthy lifestyle, Katie is truly dedicated to helping our patients look and feel their best!

With a background in business and marketing, Katie has worked in multiple industries, most recently in real estate. Her wealth of experience coupled with her creativity and passion for aesthetics has uniquely prepared Katie for her role at ReFresh, and she has quickly become an essential member of the team.

When she isn’t working, Katie enjoys spending time with her family, traveling to new places, biking and tennis!
