Enjoy the Results of This Popular Filler Collection in Milwaukee

This robust family of injectables includes Juvederm UltraUltra PlusVolbella®Vollure, and Voluma®, each with a unique indication for targeted areas of the face and specific aesthetic goals.

With Juvederm® at the Milwaukee-based ReFresh Aesthetic Center, our certified nurse/nurse practitioner injectors can restore lost volume to smooth out wrinkles, create more youthful facial contours, or augment certain areas if you simply want to add more plumpness and definition.

Injections are personalized based on the unique goals of each patient.

Sometimes called dermal fillers, injectable fillers, or facial fillers, these soft gels do not contain animal products, so the risk of developing an allergy to a filler such as Juvederm® is almost nonexistent.

There are several formulas to choose from within the Juvederm® collection, all made from hydrating hyaluronic acid, a substance that is naturally produced in the body.

What is Juvederm®?

As we age, our bodies produce less of the components that keep our skin strong and healthy, such as collagen, elastin, our body’s natural oils, and hyaluronic acid. The bone structure and the fat pads below the skin also start to diminish and shift. This is what causes the skin to dry out and develop wrinkles and creases, as well as the face to lose volume or shape. We might also develop a gaunt appearance with hollowing to the cheeks and under eyes, as well as loss of definition to the jawline and chin or thinning to the lips.

Aging and genetics are the primary causes of these changes, however sun damage, air pollution, smoking, and certain other lifestyle habits also are known to contribute to facial aging changes, such as wrinkles, folds, and loss of definition and volume. Hyaluronic acid fillers, like those in the Juvederm® family, are substances that are added beneath the skin at various depths to replace the volume that has been lost. As with other dermal fillers, the results of Juvederm® treatments are sometimes referred to as a nonsurgical facelift or “liquid lift.”

Hyaluronic acid, which is the base of the fillers, is a natural substance the body produces and helps the skin retain moisture and elasticity. The most advanced Juvederm® fillers are formulated using state-of-the-art VYCROSS technology, which creates a gel that utilizes both low and high molecular weights to improve the cross-linking efficiency of hyaluronic acid chains. These fillers are non-surgical treatments used to give the skin a more youthful, contoured appearance.

The best candidates for Juvederm® fillers are patients who are in good physical health, are non-smokers, maintain realistic expectations, and are committed to maintaining skin health.

What Can Juvederm® Address?

Juvederm® fillers can be used to correct moderate to severe wrinkles around the center and lower areas of the face, such as around the nose, cheeks, and mouth. They are designed specifically to smooth out static wrinkles, meaning lines that are caused by volume loss due to aging or other causes, as opposed to wrinkles that result from muscle contractions.

Juvederm® can address smile lines (also called nasolabial folds) and marionette lines on the chin, as well as vertical lip lines. Some forms of Juvederm® can also enhance and restore volume to the cheeks, mid-face, chin and jawline, reduce undereye hollows, diminish dark circles, and add volume or structure to lips of all shapes and sizes.

There are various formulations of Juvederm® that are used for different aesthetic goals, as they each target specific areas of the face, whether it be for facial aging changes or simply the desire to enhance and contour facial features.

What is the Juvederm® Experience Like in Milwaukee, WI?

Before an actual Juvederm® filler treatment, patients will have a consultation, during which we will discuss your goals, any medical conditions or drug allergies you may have, your general health status, current medications, previous aesthetic treatments you have had, and the options that are available. We will also provide a full face assessment before your injections.

Juvederm® XC products contain a very small amount of lidocaine, which helps to numb the treatment area, minimizing discomfort from the injections. We also apply a topical anesthetic cream prior to treatment to alleviate discomfort during the injection process. Each appointment is scheduled for an hour or less.

We’re proud to offer the full array of Juvederm fillers to patients in the Whitefish Bay, Glendale, Brown Deer, River Hills, Shorewood, Mequon, and Milwaukee areas of Wisconsin.

What is the Lifespan of Juvederm® Fillers?

The effects from a Juvederm® injection can last for a year—or even up to two years, depending on the specific type of filler used. With optimal treatment, Voluma® XC generally lasts for up to two years. Volbella®, Ultra®, and Ultra® Plus have a shorter lifespan of up to one year. The longevity of the filler used is affected by where it is injected in the face, how much of it is used, and how quickly your body metabolizes it.

Types of Juvederm®

Juvederm Ultra® and Ultra® Plus

Ultra® is ideal for adding volume to thin lips, making them plumper and fuller. Your treatment will take about an hour, and you will probably need just one treatment to achieve the results you desire. Both Ultra® and Ultra® Plus also target wrinkles and folds, but Ultra® Plus is more effective for deeper lines and folds.

Juvederm Volbella® XC

Volbella®, approved by the FDA in June of 2016, is intended for lips and fine lines. This thin, lightweight filler can be used to restore or subtly enhance lip volume and hydrate the lips, smooth vertical lip lines, soften marionette lines, and add a beautiful, balanced contour to the lips. Best of all, the results of a single injection session have been known to last up to one year, so patients don’t have to return for periodic injections every few months to sustain their new, natural-looking lips.

Juvederm Voluma® XC

The natural aging process can cause a loss of volume and contour to the cheeks/midface, leading to a sunken, flattened, and hollow appearance. Voluma® XC treatments can help maintain the natural shape and contour of your cheeks/midface with long-lasting results and minimal downtime. The hyaluronic acid in the formula binds with water within the skin to create volume and lift to the midface/cheekbones that is visible right away and can last for up to two years with optimal treatment.

What is Recovery Like After Juvederm®?

One of the advantages of Juvederm® is that there is minimal downtime necessary. Not much recovery time is required after Juvederm®, but for the first 24 hours, patients are discouraged from participating in intense activity, use of makeup and skincare products, and air travel.

The effects of Juvederm® fillers will be noticeable as soon as they are injected, though common responses to any dermal filler—such as swelling, bruising, and settling of the product—can also be seen following a treatment. These side effects are minor and resolve within just a few days. Topical skin cooling can also reduce swelling.

Within a few days, once the Juvederm® has settled into the treated area or areas, you will begin to see and enjoy your long-term refreshed look and feel.

Are There Any Alternatives to Juvederm®?

To read more about Juvederm®, visit the company’s website. Find out about other facial rejuvenation procedures aside from Juvederm® that are available at ReFresh Aesthetic Center, including the hyaluronic acid Restylane® filler line and biostimulatory filler Sculptra® that works by encouraging gradual collagen production in the skin to replace facial volume.

We also offer neuromodulators like BOTOX® and Dysport®  for targeting other types of wrinkles, such as crow’s feet and forehead lines that are caused by the muscle action involved in facial expressions. These injectables work by temporarily relaxing targeted upper and lower facial muscles, which can also result in brow and eye brightening, along with synergistic effects that complement dermal filler treatments.

Skin resurfacing techniques like microdermabrasion and medical-grade chemical peels can also be combined with facial fillers for optimal results. These treatments help to remove dead skin from the surface and encourage collagen regeneration. They not only soften wrinkles but also produce a more even, radiant skin tone.
