What Common Misconceptions Exist?
Unfortunately, many misconceptions exist about these products. The most common misconception is that they prevent you from expressing emotions on your face. Not true! If you work with skilled practitioners like those at ReFresh Aesthetic Center, your wrinkles will be softened, and you will still be able to move your facial muscles enough to express yourself naturally.
What Can a Botox® and Dysport® treatment accomplish at our Milwaukee location?
Fine lines and wrinkles between the brows (frown lines) Fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes (crow’s feet) Horizontal forehead wrinkles Fine lines around the mouth Eyebrow shaping and enhancement Brow lifting Facial sculpting of the nose, lips, jawline, neck, and corners of the mouth Prevention of lines, relaxing muscles early so that they cannot contribute to deeper wrinkles in the future Diminishing underarm sweating For some fine lines and wrinkles, dermal fillers such as Juvéderm, Restylane, or Perlane may be a better option. The professionals at ReFresh Aesthetic Center™ will advise you as to the best treatments for you.
What are Botox & Dysport?
BOTOX® & Dysport® are proteins that have been used medically for many years to treat muscle spasms and many other medical conditions. Using a very fine needle, the practitioner injects very small, precise amounts of the protein into the facial muscles that are causing the wrinkles or into the targeted muscles to achieve lifting effects
Most people report that the injections are not painful, but a topical anesthetic can be used to reduce discomfort for sensitive areas such as around the mouth.
How long does Botox® & Dysport® Last?
Depending upon the area(s) where Botox® or Dysport® is used, they typically last 3 to 4 months. The ideal time for another treatment is when muscle activity has recurred enough but before wrinkles have returned. That is because these injections can actually prevent lines and wrinkles from occurring. Most people receive a Botox® or Dysport® treatment at least three times a year.
After your injections, you will see gradual improvement for up to two weeks with most of the beneficial effects visible within the first week. This allows the effects to be subtle so that all anyone will notice is that you look ReFreshed.
What is Recovery from Botox® & Dysport® Like?
You can go back to your daily life immediately after you have had a Botox® or Dysport® treatment. You can even apply makeup right away. In some cases, mild tenderness or bruising may result for a day or two after Botox® or Dysport®.
The only precaution is to avoid lying down for the first few hours. You will also be asked to avoid touching or manipulating the injection areas for a couple of days.
While no procedure is without risks, Botox® and Dysport® have been used successfully for many years, and side effects for aesthetic uses are very rare.
